•What is Follicular Unit Extraction ( FUE ) Technique? What is the Difference?

It is the hair transplantation technique without taking band out from the naple of neck and suturing this area. It was first applied in 2003 in the world and it is a new technique when compared to FUT. The other hair area near the hairy skin may also be used as the donor (transmitter) area. When the breast hair is transplanted to the hairy skin, it grows longer, thicker and rough.

The hair in the donor area are cut in 2 mm before the operation.

The follicle is removed with a special surgery tool (in 0.6-0.8 mm dimensions). The channels are opened with cylindrical tools in 0.8-0.9 mm dimensions.

The normal intensity of the hairy skin is approximately 70 - 100 follicular unit per centimetre. The hair loss can be noticed when the hair intensity is decreased %50. Accordingly, the follicular unit transplantation between 35 and 50 per centimetre will provide a sufficient hair intensity. 
While some people may achieve a more intensive and natural result with lesser than 30 follicular unit per centimetre according to the type of hair the other people may need 65 follicular unit per centimetre in order to have such a successive result.

The operation to open more channels should be made in order to put more units per centimetre. The channels are opened with cylindrical tools in 0.8-0.9 mm of dimensions. 40 -50 follicular unit may be put per centimetre when the tool having 0.8 mm of tip is used.

Today, most of the hair transplantation application is made by FUE. The patients easily prefer and decide for the operation since it is not a surgery operation.  

FUE was applied in smaller areas since less transplantation could be made in the first years of the technique. However, the graft number in FUT technique can be reached by FUE technique and applied in the larger as a result of increasing experiences and developments in the technique.

The maximum efficiency of FUE technique can be reached in case the follicle is removed by an experienced team. The experienced teams such as Med Hair can be made 2000 and 3000 graft transplantation in 6-8 hours. Total 4000 - 5000 graft transplantation day after day  is possible if the naple of neck of the patient is very intensive and the patient needs more.

The second FUE operation can be made after 3 months earliest when required.

Advantages of FUE technique;  

The advantages of FUE technique are that it is an invasive operation without suture, it does not make a mark on the nape of neck, the area where the graft is removed has a scab for a few days and recovers rapidly and there is no sensitive loss in the area where the hair is removed for a long time.

The follicle may be taken from the other body parts if the person does not have sufficient transmitter area in the hairy skin.

The unnatural transplantation is not seen in the FUE technique in case the graft is taken with tools in 0.6-0.8 mm dimensions and the channels are opened with tools in 0.8-0.9 mm dimensions.

Disadvantages of FUE technique;  

Approximately 2500 - 3000 grafts are transplanted by FUT technique in an operation lasting about 6 hours and approximately 2000 - 3000 grafts are transplanted by FUE technique in an operation lasting about 6-8 hours.
